Più di una volta il ragazzo é stato respinto e indicato come positivo al Covid dopo i casi registrati alla Casa del Sole. E invece era tutto falso
FASANO – Sam, lo chiamerò così, con un nome di fantasia. E’ un giovane ivoriano, che vive e lavora come operaio nella nostra città da quasi quattro anni. Anche lui, come tutti noi, vive il dramma della pandemia che ci ha costretti a rivedere i nostri stili di vita, le nostre abitudini, la nostra normalità, le nostre certezze. E’ un ragazzo ben integrato nella nostra comunità, uno di quelli che ha dovuto conoscere i campi libici e la traversata per raggiungere il nostro paese in cerca di salvezza. Uno di quelli che ha conosciuto l’inferno in terra, per farla breve.
Oggi Sam è fortunatamente circondato da amici ed affetti fasanesi che gli vogliono bene, ma davvero tanto: «io mi sento fasanese» mi ha assicurato nell’intervista che mi ha rilasciato nelle ultime ore. Perchè per Sam, oltre ai cambiamenti che tutti abbiamo dovuto subire, c’è in realtà un’altra triste storia, una di quelle che non avrei mai voluto raccontarvi. Lo faccio in queste righe, perché dice Sam che forse può aiutare tanti suoi amici che hanno la colpa di avere una pelle diversa dalla nostra.
Tutto comincia quando il 6 novembre scorso il sindaco Francesco Zaccaria annuncia di aver ricevuto comunicazione dalle autorità sanitarie circa la presenza di 46 contagi alla Casa del Sole. Sam è uno di quei ragazzi che risiede a Fasano, non alla Casa del Sole, perchè ha fortunatamente raggiunto una sua indipendenza. Da quel giorno però anche per lui comincia una storia che ha davvero dell’assurdo. Da quel giorno Sam diventa un “immigrato nero che va in giro a spargere il Covid”. «Perchè – come dice lui – qualcuno ha ormai preso il vizio di associare tutti i neri al Coronavirus».
«Sono uscito di casa e, come spesso accade, mi sono recato a comprare un pacchetto di sigarette. Due signore lì, all’interno di quel tabaccaio, hanno cominciato ad indicarmi, a farneticare, a usare parole come “vedì là, guarda quello, attenzione”». Sam racconta che solo quando si sono rese conto che avere la pelle nera non vuol dire non comprendere la lingua italiana, così come avercela bianca non vuole necessariamente dire essere brave persone, hanno cominciato ad utilizzare il dialetto. Lui è uscito ed è andato via, convinto che sarebbe rimasto un episodio, uno di quelli isolati, uno di quelli che non accadono più. Uno di quelli che hai solo avuto la sfortuna di incontrare la persona sbagliata. E invece no.
«Non mi sento vittima di episodi razzisti, né credo che i fasanesi siano razzisti, sia chiaro»: Sam prova persino a giustificare episodi ai quali, invece, io darei proprio quell’aggettivo che Sam non vuole usare. Ma voglio già bene a Sam e mi fido di lui. Farò come mi dice ed anzi me lo specifica più volte durante l’intervista: «non è razzismo, Marco, forse è paura». Forse, Sam, hai ragione tu.
L’altro episodio si è verificato quando si è recato in un bar del centro città, proprio domenica scorsa, per prendere un caffè d’asporto: ha incontrato all’entrata due ragazzi di trentanni circa, entrambi senza mascherina, che appena lo hanno visto uscire dal bar lo hanno indicato, hanno alzato il collo della loro felpa e hanno coperto naso e bocca. Sam è un essere umano e, come ad ogni essere umano, può capitare persino che gli girino le scatole: li ha guardati, abbastanza infastidito da quei gesti, e ha chiesto loro quale fosse il problema, cosa non andava in lui. Uno dei due, voltandosi mentre si allontanavano, gli ha semplicemente alzato il dito medio.
Non è finita qui. Un bel giorno ha deciso di andare a fare spesa ed a comprare un po’ di carne in una macelleria situata vicino al centro città. Si è messo in fila, come tutti, per attendere il suo turno fino a quando una donna lì presente avrebbe esclamato “non puoi stare qui, sei positivo, hai il Covid, non devi entrare!”. Sam, quasi incredulo, mi racconta che ha ripetuto più volte che non solo fosse suo diritto essere lì ma che aveva da poco avuto l’esito del suo secondo tampone (che ha dovuto fare per lavoro) ed era assolutamente negativo. E che comunque, tutto sommato, non avrebbe dovuto dare nessuna spiegazione alla “signora”. «Una scena – assicura Sam – capitata anche ad un mio amico residente qui, anche lui del mio stesso paese, il quale ha dovuto addirittura mostrare un certificato di negatività al Covid per poter comprare un pacchetto di sigarette».
Sam, che non perde il sorriso e la voglia di continuare a sentirsi fasanese, ci racconta che ha però perso il suo barbiere di fiducia che, dopo la notizia dei contagi alla Casa del Sole, ha cominciato con continue scuse a rimandare i suoi appuntamenti. Sam ha dovuto affidarsi ad un amico che con un po’ di inventiva ed un rasoio elettrico, lo ha “risistemato” un po’. Ha persino dovuto giustificarsi con alcuni abitanti nei pressi del posto di lavoro che, vedendolo un giorno passeggiare per strada, gli hanno chiesto “se si sentisse meglio, se fosse guarito”. «Non ho mai avuto il Covid» ha ribadito il ragazzo. Una chiamata di un’amica, un giorno, lo ha fatto sentire veramente male: “dicono in giro che tu sia positivo”. Sam mi ha anche raccontato di altri episodi, più o meno simili, avvenuti tutti nelle ultime settimane.
Ho promesso a Sam che avrei rispettato l’anonimato. Ho promesso che avrei raccontato la sua storia. E gli ho promesso, sopratutto, che non avrei mai detto che questa gente è razzista. Lo faccio per lui, che starà leggendo queste righe, anche se ne vorrei dire tante. Per ora mi limito a riportare dei fatti, dei fatti che da fasanese mi hanno un po’ onestamente fatto vergognare.
«Alla fine hai ragione tu Sam – gli ho confessato -: non è vero che i fasanesi sono razzisti, così come non è vero che tutti i neri sono cattivi e diffondono il Coronavirus. E’ solo che, vedi Sam, ogni popolo ha i suoi cittadini, quelli buoni e quelli… diciamo meno buoni».
Quelli ai quali, caro Sam, non gli si deve mai augurare del male. Ma magari una chiacchierata con te sì, come ho fatto io in queste ore, in modo che anche loro possano un po’ sentire sulle loro spalle quell’inferno che fortunatamente l’Italia, Fasano e molti fasanesi, ti hanno un po’ fatto dimenticare.
Diciamo pure che non sono razzisti. Posso almeno dire che sono degli stronzi e che del Covid, almeno del Covid, un giorno ce ne libereremo?
