È oramai una corsa contro il tempo. Ed in tutto questo la cosa peggiore è una politica sempre più sorda
FASANO – Melissa peggiora, il tempo stringe e non può essere sprecato un secondo di più. È l’appello, l’ennesimo appello, lanciato dai genitori della piccola Melissa, la neonata fasanese affetta da patologia SMA di tipo 1. Della piccola ci siamo già occupati alcune settimane fa dando voce al suo caso e sostenendo la raccolta fondi avviata per l’acquisto dell’unico farmaco che, al momento, potrebbe dare una speranza in più alla piccola: un farmaco, lo Zolgensma, che ha un costo di poco superiore ai due milioni di dollari e ad oggi in Italia è utilizzato solo per cia compassionevole.
È proprio all’AIFA che i genitori di Melissa si rivolgono in un video pubblicato nelle ultime ore tramite i social network, per chiedere l’attivazione della procedura e la somministrazione dello stesso. Ad oggi, infatti, pur recandosi all’estero per sottoporre Melissa a questo tipo di terapia, non riuscirebbero a sostenere i costi: dei fondi necessari sono stati raccolti poco meno di un milione di euro. Ne servirebbero almeno il doppio.
«Non molliamo e andiamo avanti. Non posso immaginare di non dover più vedere gli occhioni di mia figlia – racconta mamma Rossana tra le lacrime – : vi ringrazio tutti e vi vogliamo bene».
Ma la cosa peggiore, di tutta questa storia, è una politica che soprattutto ai più alti livelli sembra diventata completamente sorda dinanzi a questa vicenda o che, almeno, non sta facendo abbastanza.
